Internship Summary
Basic Details
Twice a year we run a 6-month internship programme to give those with web experience, or those keen to learn and to develop new skills. Interns who complete the course successfully are awarded a certificate and given the chance to become freelance web designers with us. They may also use us as a reference for job applications. Other benefits of working for us include free hosting for your own personal website (obviously not in competition with us), webmail, free limited online storage.
There are several sections to the Internship. These are Web Design, Digital Photography, Video Shooting, Video Editing, Graphics Design, Team Work and Customer Services. This gives you an overall picture of the world of professional web design. You will attend training 6 times over 6 months followed by attendance on the exam day. A certificate is awarded upon successful completion of the final exam.
Still Interested, here is more
Training days will usually be scheduled on a weekend, and take place in small groups in either a home office or hired venue. Here you will learn how to create websites. On some days, however, you will be on location filming, photographing and creating content. At the end of every session, some tasks will be allocated for completion on your own in time for the next session. We have a support network in place where you can email or video chat with your trainers or with others on the course for support with your tasks.
The end of the internship
The internship will conclude with a 2 part examination. Part 1 will be to produce a website in 3½ hours. Part 2 will be an online theory examination. Both tests require 80% to pass and are done on the same day.
What if you don't pass?
The theory paper (30 mins). The passing grade is 80%+. If you gain a grade of 40% to 79% then you will be given the chance to re-sit the test after an additional training session. If your grade is lower than 40%, you have not passed the theory unit and will not be awarded the certificate for that unit. You may only re-take once. Please note, it is not the same paper when you retake.
The practical project (3½ hours). If you gain 50% to 79% then you will be given the chance to re-sit the test after 1 additional training session. If your grade is lower than 50%, you have not passed the practical unit and will not be awarded the certificate for that unit. You may only re-take once. Please note, it is not the same project when you retake.
